"If you play enough Test cricket, I think it will survive", Dravid said in an interview.
Dravid, who had recently retired from all forms of international cricket is the second highest scorer in Test matches.
"Twenty20 has put a strain on the calendar, so it's just a question of how the administrators manage it. The challenge will be to ensure every team plays enough Tests in the year", said The Wall.
International cricket in recent years has shown traits of a paradigm shift towards the shorter formats of the game, raising questions over the future of Test cricket.
Teams around the world, especially India, have not found it easy to discover players who have the composure to play the longer format since the introduction of the much exciting T20 cricket.
Dravid said it was crucial to nurture youngsters. "I think the ideal scenario would be for young players not to have to make choice between playing all three forms of the game." said Dravid.
Team India has seen eight consecutive overseas defeats in Test matches after winning the World Cup last year and have been at the receiving end of much criticism from fans and media for their possible apathy towards Test cricket.
